The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene its first 2025 civil society engagement “International Action Towards Ending the Nakba and Realising the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People”, on the margins of the 77th commemoration of the Palestinian Nakba, on 15 May 2025 (3-6 p.m.) and 16 May 2025 (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.) in the ECOSOC Chamber at United Nations Headquarters.
Member States and CSOs will brief on ongoing actions to implement GA resolution ES-10/24. This will include presentations on recent efforts and findings by civil society organizations, UN Special Procedures, as well as meaningful legal actions undertaken in various domestic courts and other legal action and measures undertaken by Member States to hold Israel accountable for its war crimes, crimes against humanity and acts of genocide in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem. The Consultations will also provide an opportunity to brainstorm on further coordination and cooperation between Member States and civil society in that regard, including in preparation for the High-Level Conference in June.
The consultations will serve as a platform to call for the joint Member States-CSO intensification of efforts to force the occupying Power to abide by its legal obligations and responsibility under relevant UN resolutions and to promote a multilaterally-sponsored peace process, including civil society, parliamentarians, regional organizations and others, to end the illegal Israeli occupation, realize the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights and achieve a just and lasting peace.
All Member States and Observers, United Nations organizations, intergovernmental and civil society organizations are invited to attend. The event will be webcast at UN WEB TV.
