Readout of the President of the General Assembly’s Meeting with H.E. Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President-designate of the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Philemon Yang, met with H.E. Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President-designate of the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference, on 5 March 2025.
The President of the General Assembly and the President-designate discussed the preparations for the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) to be held in the Amazonian city of Bélem, Brazil in November. They also agreed on the need to boost efforts for mitigation and adaptation, while unlocking climate finance.
The President of the General Assembly expressed his full support to the COP30 presidency and thanked Ambassador Corrêa do Lago for taking the time to brief UN Member States on the priorities and preparations.
